Sanwo-Olu Commissions Fresh Food Hub in Agege, Third in Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned a modern Fresh Food Hub in Agege, making it the third of its kind established by the Lagos State Government.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu said no city could achieve meaningful development without a well-organised food supply system, stressing that food remains fundamental to human existence.

He noted that the first Fresh Food Hub was established at Idi-Oro, Mushin, while the second was located at Abijan in Ajah, with Agege now becoming the third location.

According to him, the food hubs provide farmers with opportunities to sell their produce while creating employment opportunities for residents of the host communities.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya, explained that the establishment of the Fresh Food Hubs was aimed at ensuring that residents have access to affordable food while providing proper storage facilities to reduce food wastage and spoilage.

Olusanya commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to improving food supply across the state, noting that residents could purchase food items at reduced prices through the initiative.

She said the choice of Agege for the project was strategic, describing the area as one of the central communities in Lagos and a major gateway to several other parts of the state.

The Chairman of Agege Local Government, Hon. Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, described the project as a major boost to residents of Agege and neighbouring communities, saying it would contribute to the positive transformation of the area.

Obasa commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for the initiative and promised that the local government would ensure proper maintenance and protection of the facility.
