As we celebrate Eid al-Fitr and approach the third anniversary of your administration, I would like to humbly appeal to you to consider the challenges facing the poor masses.
It is the responsibility of every government to provide basic amenities for its citizens. In this regard, I respectfully request your intervention in the areas of food supply, electricity, security, and housing. These four areas urgently need serious attention.
I appreciate your efforts so far, especially in the area of security. However, even better results can be achieved with the support of local security organizations like ours, OPC (Reformed), and other groups who are willing to risk their lives to protect our communities.
Another issue that requires urgent attention is housing. It is becoming increasingly difficult for people to pay rent in major cities like Lagos and Abuja. I kindly appeal for your immediate intervention in this area.
The current minimum wage is not sufficient for workers to afford rent, let alone cover feeding, transportation, and other basic needs. I also appeal to you to encourage state governors to address the issue of rent in their respective states. Alternatively, funds from the removal of oil subsidies could be directed toward housing development, rather than being shared among states, as some states may not be using the funds effectively.
Your urgent attention to these issues will be greatly appreciated by the poor masses, who come out in both sunshine and rain to cast their votes.
