Muslims across Lagos on Friday gathered in large numbers to observe the Eid prayer, marking the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, in a peaceful and orderly atmosphere.
The special congregational prayers, held at various Eid grounds and mosques across the state, including major centres in Ikeja, Agege, Ikorodu, and Victoria Island, recorded high attendance of faithful who came out early in the morning dressed in colourful attire.
Islamic clerics, in their sermons, emphasized unity, love, and the need for continued peaceful coexistence among residents.
Security agencies were visibly deployed across strategic locations to ensure safety, while traffic officials managed vehicular movement around prayer grounds to prevent congestion. There were no reports of violence or major disruptions during or after the prayers.
Many residents expressed gratitude for the calm environment, noting that the peaceful conduct of the Eid celebration reflects the spirit of tolerance and harmony among the people of Lagos. Activities later continued with visits to family and friends, as well as acts of charity in line with Islamic teachings
