The President of the Oodua People’s Congress Reform(OPC R), Ambassador Dare Adesope, has congratulated Tunji Disu on his appointment as the new Inspector General of Police, describing it as well-deserved and timely.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Adesope commended the Federal Government for appointing a seasoned and disciplined officer, noting that Disu’s track record in law enforcement speaks volumes about his capability to lead the nation’s police force effectively.
He expressed confidence that the new IGP would bring professionalism, integrity, and strategic reforms to policing in Nigeria, especially at a time when security challenges remain a major concern across the country.
The OPC leader further urged Disu to prioritize intelligence-driven policing, community engagement, and improved welfare for officers, stressing that these measures are critical to restoring public trust in the police.
Adesope also called on Nigerians to support the new police chief in his efforts to reposition the force, emphasizing that collective responsibility is key to achieving lasting peace and security.
However, he urges the new police chief to see the OPC members as a help tool in tackling insecurity across the nation.
He concluded by wishing the IGP a successful tenure, expressing optimism that his leadership would usher in a new era of efficiency and accountability in the Nigeria Police Force.
