A mother has allegedly been subjected to repeated harassment alongside her chidren by her husband in Ogun State, raising concerns about their safety .

The woman, Abdul Monsurat said the harassment has included verbal abuse, intimidation, and threats directed at both her and her children over a period of years. She described the situation as traumatic and called for urgent intervention by authorities.

According to the victim, the conflict began over a minor disagreement but quickly escalated into persistent hostility owing to her change of faith.   She alleged that her children have been particularly affected, showing signs of fear and emotional distress as a result of the encounters.

Efforts to reach the accused husband were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report. However,  community leaders have reportedly stepped in to mediate and restore calm but the husband only show up whenever he want to make trouble.

The father of her children, Mr Abdul Oladapo claimed she dont have any right to change the children faith from Islam to Christianity.

The victim reported that the enstranged husband came for her in March   2022, the after effect  of the struggle gave her bruises and dark face which made her report the matter to the police in Ogun State Division but he remain adamant.

Residents in the neighbourhood confirmed that the woman was attacked by her estranged husband during a church service, in February 2025, sparking panic among worshippers and raising fresh concerns over domestic violence, with some calling for peaceful resolution while others expressed concern over the impact on the children wellbeing.

The stuggle escalate in February 2025, during anniversary service of the second church built by the victim where the enstranged husband repeatedly said she should return his children back to their former faith.

Eyewitnesses said the man stormed the church premises and confronted the woman before launching a physical assault, causing disruption to the service and sending congregants fleeing for safety.

Meanwhile, rights advocates have condemned all forms of harassment, especially those involving minors, and urged law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and ensure the protection of vulnerable individuals.

Sources say the couple had been separated following prolonged domestic disputes, with reports that the woman had previously raised concerns over threats to her safety.
