There are traditional rituals and rites to be performed before a designated prince crowned as a King. Usually, the various ceremonies involved take some days, every towns or throne has different ways for their traditional rites
Immediately the Soun elect, reach Ogbomoso amid fanfare. His installation ritual rites will be communicated and commence shortly and it’s in several stages. It may take at least two days
The stages are as follows:
1. The Soun will stay in a house a day previous preparatory to the Installation (He will not enter the house again for ever)
2. From this house, he will proceed to Town Hall where prayers will be offered by the Christians and Muslims (CAN Chairman and Chief Imam) for peaceful reigns etc
3. From Town Hall Soun and his entourage leave for Idi-Ape at Ojà Ajagun (Ojà Jagun). There he will perform some traditional rites
4. From Oja Jagun, Soun leaves for the Abata which he will enter by a ladder (his relatives being by his side). The Aremole then hands the traditional keys to the Soun
5. He dashes to the room of first Soun (Aisa Agbe) to perform certain rites and pay his respects.
6. After this, the Iyale will conduct the Soun to the graves of the previous Obas and he will prostrate at each (pay his respects)
7. Soun will dance round the Abata seven times
8. He will sit and the traditional symbol of authority will be presented to him by the Aremole and Alapo
9. Customary greetings by the traditional chiefs and other chiefs led by the Areago of Ogbomoso
10. The following morning the Iyalade will place the crown on the Soun
Note: All these are the traditional rites and process of installation of Soun and the late Soun Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, pass through all these installation rites on 14th December, 1973
