THE SCIENCE AND SPIRITUALISM OF THE PLACENTA

The PLACENTA is known as IBI-OMO in the Yoruba context.

Scientifically, the Placenta is an organ that develops in the uterus during pregnancy.
It provides oxygen and nutrients to a growing baby in the mother's womb.
It also removes waste products from the baby's blood and other products which can endanger the survival of a child in the womb.
The Placenta attaches to the wall of the uterus and the baby's umbilical cord arises from it.
In a nutshell, the Placenta is an Organ that enhance the survival of a baby in the mother's womb.

Spiritually and in the same vein, what Science will never tell you is that when a baby is born into the world after leaving his/her mother's womb, he/she comes out with the Placenta which Science has proven to be the basic survival organ of a baby in the womb.

Three major things happen after a baby is delivered;
1. Human beings will separate the Child from the Placenta which has been the survival organ of that baby in the womb.

2. The Placenta after the separation will be buried inside the Earth.

3. There is always the Spiritual communication between the Baby and the Placenta which is unknown to human consumption.

The Placenta at this moment  reminds the baby of how ingratitude he/she is.
Making it known that, despite its care and support for the baby in his/her mother's womb, he/she now abandoned it to be buried all alone.
This Communication is the main reason why you see a child crying immediately after birth.
The child will be in a dilemma of not betraying the Placenta that took care of him in the womb and also avoiding to put agony into the life of a mother who has carried him for nine months and the pain she encountered during labour.

Some children chose to follow the spirit of their Placenta into the earth while some remain to enjoy the milk reserved for them from their mother's breast.
Nonetheless, the Placenta still communicate to the baby that it will still wait for the child inside the Earth no matter how long he/she is going to spend on Earth.

Spiritually, when things are not going well with an Individual, Sages sometimes advise such person to go back to his place of birth where his Placenta is buried and make sacrifice to appease to the land.
It is believed that the spirit attached to the Placenta of such person is in agony and fighting back and thus bringing calamities to his life.

As we progress in our journey through life, it is advisable we visit the Land where we were born and our Placenta buried.
We should endeavor to bless the less privileged and the needy within that locality.
By so doing, we are keeping the spirits of our Placenta happy which will automatically make us blossom in life.
