Nollywood is a danger zone for young girls , not safe for young girls - Reginal Daniels

The plight of the girl child, once again, caught public attention when Nigerian Actress, Regina Daniels, recently took to social media to discuss child labour in Nollywood.
In the video sighted on her Instagram page, the 22-year-old, highlighted the different ways and instances young girls are taken advantage of in the movie industry.

The actress shared her encounter on set with a 14-year-old who was a makeup artiste and had been going from set to set working with different people.

Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has said that the movie industry is not a place for young girls and urge producers to discourage the act of employing minors.

She advised celebrities, and movie producers, to say no to child labour and keep the industry secure.

She said, "I met a 14-year-old girl wearing a short skirt, crop top and working under another young guy on the movie set who claims to be a make-up artist.  Her parents are far away in Port Harcourt and she came to Lagos last year.

She sleeps in different hotel rooms with whoever agrees to accommodate her every night and is not willing to go back to her parents.

This girl told me that she is here to learn but trust me, I know the industry and it is not a safe place for young girls.”

In addition to the physical strain, Daniels also highlighted the emotional toll that young women can face. She noted that young guys can defend themselves, but young girls will always be at the mercy of society, which may expose them to trauma or emotional distress

Please say NO to child Labour. And keep the industry secure.”
