Buhari inaugurates Arase PSC chair, CCB members

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, swore in former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, as Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The ceremony, came up alongside with the  inauguration of five members of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), took place moments before commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja.

Arase assumed duties following resignation of another ex-IGP, Musiliu Smith, who was reported to have been advised by the board to resign in September 2022.

The five CCB members inaugurated by the President comprise Murtala Kankia from Katsina State to represent North West; Nasarawa’s Zephaniah Ishaku Bulus to represent North Central and Yobe indigene, Farouq Umar, is representing North East.

The rest are Abdulsalam Taofiq Olawale from Ondo State, who represents South West, while Kogi native, Prof. Juwaria Badamasiuyi, is representative of North Central.

The 65-year-old Arase, who retired in 2016, was 18th indigenous IGP between April 2015 and June 2016. He has served in various capacities, including as head of the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau, the foremost intelligence-gathering unit of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Arase however promised to prioritise welfare of officers and men of the NPF.
